How to Know God

The problem: sin—everyone is a sinner

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23 CSB)

The result: separation from God

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 CSB)

The solution: Christ—He came to deal with sin

But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8 CSB)

The outcome: reconciliation with God

1 Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 We have also obtained access through him by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. (Romans 5:1-2 CSB)

10 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, then how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life. 11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received this reconciliation. (Romans 5:10-11 CSB))

So what do I do?

8 On the contrary, what does it say? The message is near you, in your mouth and in your heart. This is the message of faith that we proclaim: 9 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation. (Romans 10:8-10 CSB)

For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. (Romans 10:13 CSB)

What do you do? You talk to God. You pray. You agree with Him about sin and that Jesus is the only solution to sin and you ask for forgiveness. You repent—that is, you turn from sin and self and turn to God.

You connect with other followers of Christ in a local church and tell them of the reconciliation that you have experienced with God.
